  • Author: Laura
  • Total Time: 50 minutes

Description

This spaghetti casserole will be a family favorite! Greek yogurt not only adds protein to this dish, it adds a delicious creaminess to the spaghetti sauce.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 8 oz. spaghetti pasta (broken into thirds)
  • 2/3 C. greek yogurt
  • 1/2 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1 tsp. Italian seasoning
  • 2 C. mozzarella (split)
  • 2 C. pizza blend cheese or cheddar (split)
  • 1 25 oz. jar of spaghetti sauce
  • Salt, to taste (see note below)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Fill a large pot with water, bring to a boil, and cook the pasta.
  3. While the pasta is cooking, brown the ground beef in a large pan.
  4. Add the spaghetti sauce, garlic powder, and italian seasoning. Mix well.
  5. Add the greek yogurt, stirring gently until incorporated into the sauce.
  6. Add half of the cheese (1 C. mozzarella, 1 C. pizza blend) to the sauce mixture.
  7. Pour the meat sauce and cheese mixture into a large casserole dish.
  8. Top with the remaining cheese.
  9. Bake for 30 minutes (25 minutes covered, 5 minutes uncovered) or until heated through. You can also set the oven to ‘broil’ to brown the cheese more, if needed.

Notes

  • The salt will depend on the spaghetti sauce you are using and your taste palate. If your spaghetti sauce has a lot of sodium already, consider eliminating the salt in this recipe.
  • Any ground meat can work in this recipe.
  • Select your favorite cheese blends or combination.
