Creamy Boursin Chicken Bake

This extra creamy Boursin chicken bake is inspired by the viral TikTok baked feta and Boursin cheese pasta trends. I like to make this chicken casserole without the pasta, and then serve it with a variety of side dishes. This pairs well with vegetables, homemade garlic bread bread, or your favorite pasta if you decide to serve it the traditional way.

This picture shows the ingredients to make the Boursin casserole displayed separately before assembling into a casserole.

Ingredients for this creamy Boursin chicken bake

  • Chicken breast — I love using chicken breast for this recipe because it’s such a lean protein, but any kind of chicken would work. The Boursin and tomatoes add such rich, creaminess to the chicken breast, making this a perfect recipe for baked chicken that isn’t dry.
  • Tomatoes — I recommend using grape or cherry tomatoes for this recipe. They add a delicious pop of flavor. They are also featured in the famous TikTok pasta with Boursin and the baked feta dish.
  • Boursin Cheese — The hero of this dish is the Boursin cheese. The Boursin Garlic & Fine herbs has been my favorite cheese for over a decade, and I was so happy to see it hitting a more mainstream audience recently in a TikTok trend.
  • Olive oil — Olive oil complements the Boursin cheese and tomatoes so well. It coats the chicken and combines with the seasoning for an extra delicious flavor combination.
  • Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper — While the Boursin cheese has garlic and herb flavorings, adding Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper to the chicken while it bakes enhances the flavor for the entire dish.

How to make Boursin Cheese Chicken Casserole

  1. Spray the casserole dish lightly with cooking spray, and place the Boursin cheese in the middle of the pan.
  2. Pat the chicken breast dry, trying to remove as much excess water as possible.
  3. Coat the chicken with olive oil and seasonings. Arrange the chicken around the pan, allowing for a little space around each chicken breast.
  4. Place the tomatoes into the gaps between the Boursin cheese and chicken breasts. I try to put the tomatoes in a single layer, but a few might be on top of each other. The tomatoes will reduce in size when they cook.
  5. After cooking, remove the pan from the oven. Take a spoon and press down on the Boursin cheese, letting the melted cheese spread more throughout the pan. Mix the cheese and tomatoes, and spoon the cheese over the chicken breasts.
  6. Serve each chicken breast separately (with cheese and tomatoes on top) or shred the chicken for a more mixed dish.
This picture shows a close up picture of the Boursin chicken right out of the oven. The Boursin cheese has a toasted crust on top, and the tomatoes are cooked and slightly withered. It is ready to be mixed together.

Serving variations for this creamy Boursin chicken bake:

TikTok Boursin Pasta version: After taking the casserole out of the oven, add cooked pasta and mix with the Boursin cheese, tomatoes, and chicken. You can shred the chicken, if desired, and also add a splash of pasta water (if the consistency is too thick and the pasta is not coated sufficiently).

Low-carb or Keto version: This creamy Boursin cheese bake is delicious right out of the oven, and is a delicious low-carb casserole. You could also pair it with vegetables, drizzling the creamy Boursin sauce over the top.

Side dish versions: Serve this Boursin hot dish casserole with homemade garlic bread, pasta, a side salad, roasted vegetables, and so much more. It’s a versatile dish and each family member could select a favorite side.
