Honey-Lime Caprese Salad

This honey-lime caprese salad is a unique variation of the traditional balsamic caprese salad. The honey-lime vinaigrette is fresh (and addicting), and it pairs well with the mozzarella and tomatoes. This is a perfect summer salad recipe to pair with your favorite protein or as a dish to bring to a barbecue.

Ingredients for honey-lime caprese salad

While I love balsamic dressing, I like that this is a unique caprese salad without balsamic. The fresh flavors are surprising and delicious.

  • Mozzarella — Fresh mozzarella balls in water are typically found near the specialty cheeses in a grocery store. Even in my rural area, I’m able to find this cheese for mozzarella caprese salads.
  • Tomatoes — I love to use grape or cherry tomatoes for this salad as they are often more reliably tasty than the larger tomatoes I find at the grocery store. However, when my garden tomatoes are ready, I will definitely use a larger tomato for this recipe as garden tomatoes are the best!
  • Fresh vegetables — I love adding green and red peppers to this recipe for an extra color pop, but you could add other vegetables that you like to this caprese salad recipe.
  • Basil — this fresh herb is a staple in caprese salad, and it pairs well with the honey-lime dressing, tomato, and mozzarella flavors.
  • Honey-lime vinaigrette — this delicious dressing comes together with honey, lime, and white wine vinegar. Add a little salt and pepper, and it’s ready to drizzle on top of the caprese salad.

How to make caprese salad and the honey-lime dressing

This mozzarella and tomato caprese salad is EASY to make, and it requires dicing the vegetables and mixing the dressing up. I prefer slicing the mozzarella, but you could leave it whole or cut it down even smaller.

I love to display the cut vegetables side-by-side to visually see each color, but you could also mix the entire salad together.
